After arriving from my native Australia, I realized that it constantly rains in Vancouver. Which is a stark contrast to Australia, being very hot and dry. The novelty of puddle jumping here in Vancouver far outweighed the practicality of having the appropriate rain gear to stay dry. After many days of getting soaked the novelty eventually lost its charm, I too began to dread the long grey rainy days.

Determined to not let the weather get to me I purchased a pair of colorful gumboots ........ not only were they comfortable and practical they made me feel youthful again. Puddle jumping made its come back and initiated the birth of GumDrops, a playful, practical and professional wet weather boutique allowing Vancouverites ..... for the first time to:

that a simultaneous pursuit of synergy between, economic and environmental aspirations will not be met 100%, however we implement achievable sustainable procedures such as:

• We give with each purchase a re-useable branded GumDrops bags.We replaced old light bulbs with energy efficient lighting.
• We salvaged construction waste to build shelving in our off-site storage.
• We re-use single sided printed paper for in-store use such as inventory control forms and staff information forms.
• We re-use packaging from new boots as our garbage bags.

• We carry a selection of umbrellas that are repairable (which means that they don’t end up in land fill if they break or tear).

• We donate proceeds from the gumball machine in store go to a selected charity quarterly.
